The insulator is a non-conductive ring, which connects your EarthCalm pendant's chain to the clasp. It is there to provide a necessary break in the current, which is being conducted from the pendant, around the chain.
Our insulators are made from high quality materials, so they should last for years. If yours breaks, it is important to have it replaced. Do not wear the chain without an insulator.
What if I am replacing the chain?
A replacement chain is available from EarthCalm, and it includes an insulator. If you are using your own chain, it is important to add an insulator to it. View replacement chain here. It is also ok to use a strong ribbon, paracord, leather cord, or any other durable non-conductive material.
It's simple to install an insulator, but you'll need the right tools. If in doubt, any jeweler could easily install it within a couple of minutes. If you choose to install it yourself, you'll need 2 pairs of needle-nose pliers (one in each hand).
1) Using the pliers, open the jump rings (or "O" rings), which are connected to the old insulator, just wide enough to remove the old insulator, and insert the new one.
2) Pinch the jump rings tightly around the new insulator, until they are completely closed. And that's it!
