Cell Towers

Cell Towers are Not Safe
Cell towers use high levels of microwave and radio frequencies to transmit information between sources. They are so powerful, in fact, that most can reach distances of over 40 miles! Though this is an amazing feat, these types of frequencies are actually forms of non-ionizing radiation, which have been shown in hundreds of studies to harm human health. Despite this fact, the telecom industry, as well as many governments around the world, continue to maintain that there is no conclusive evidence of health risks when it comes to human exposure to cell tower radiation.
It is not completely clear why highly reputable science is being ignored on such a broad scale, but the result has been a dramatic lack of awareness when it comes to this very real danger. With millions of people living in such close proximity to cell towers, it is important for the public to educate themselves and take action for change.
A Look at the Studies
Getting a clear picture about cell tower dangers can prove to be difficult with such an evident debate taking place. This is the reason why it is so important to look at ALL of the available science. We have compiled the following list of reputable studies from across the globe, all of which have helped to define the need for caution when it comes to cell tower exposure.
Cell Tower Research from Around the World:
New Zealand: In 2002, Dr. Neil Cherry, biophysicist at the University of New Zealand, wrote a 120-page review of 188 scientific studies on the dangers of cell towers. He stated that the government standards were based only on thermal effects which do not take into consideration the non-thermal effects which also take place, such as cell death and DNA breakdown. To claim there is no adverse effect from phone towers flies in the face of a large body of evidence. [VIEW]
France: In 2003, a study by R. Santini, in Rennes, France, found that people living within 300 meters of cell antennas reported the following disorders: "fatigue, sleep disturbances, headaches, feelings of discomfort, difficulty concentrating, depression, memory loss, visual disruptions, irritability, hearing disruptions, skin problems, cardiovascular disorders, and dizziness. Spain: Also in 2003, E.A. Navarro in Valencia, Spain, conducted a study in which he concluded that "exposed individuals that lived within 50 and 150 meters of the base station experienced more headaches, sleep disturbances, irritability, difficulty concentrating, dizziness, appetite loss, and dizziness. Germany: In a study conducted in 2004, Dr. Horst Eger from Naila, Germany, gathered evidence from 1000 patients residing at the same address during a period of 10 years. He found that the proportion of newly-developed cancer cases was three times higher among those who lived at a distance of up to 400 m (1300 ft) from a cell tower, compared to those living further away. UK: In 2007, Dr. John Walker compiled a series of cluster studies on the effects of cell tower radiation. Seven clusters of cancer, and other serious illnesses were discovered around mobile phone masts. Studies of the sites showed high incidences of cancer, brain hemorrhages, and high blood pressure within a radius of 400 yards of mobile phone masts. One of the studies showed a cluster of 31 cancers around a single street. A quarter of the 30-person staff at one particular school, within sight of the 90ft high mast, had developed tumors since 2000, while another quarter had suffered significant health problems. [VIEW]
India: In 2011, Dr. Girish Kumar at India Anna University, indicated a rise in attention disorders in people (especially children) who received prolonged exposure to EMFs from cell towers. [VIEW]
Why do we continue to erect cell towers?
With so much evidence about the health risks, how is it that governments allow cell phone companies to continue to erect more and more cell towers and antennas? One factor, of course, is that although ever-growing numbers of people are voicing concerns about the possible health risks of cells towers, most people want good reception on their phones. Competing cell phone companies are very accommodating; they strive to put up as many cell towers and antennas as they can to keep their far-roaming customers satisfied. Also, governments continue to protect the right of the telecom industry to put up as many towers as they want, without question. In the US, for example, the wireless industry is protected by Article 704 of the Telecommunications Act, which was signed by President Clinton in 1996. This act does not allow rejection of a tower based on health risks. It even prohibits arguments of potential health risks from cell towers to be made at any public hearing. This is an issue that needs urgent social action!
Protection is Important
It has become nearly impossible to escape the presence of cell towers, which is why there is a critical need to develop ways to protect our health. At EarthCalm we are dedicated to developing EMF protection technology that restores the bodies natural electromagnetic balance, and we have had incredible results!
